Here's the moon just as it was coming out. It was so beautiful to see it start to shine while it was still light out.

Well I've been meaning to post a story that happened to us (Me, Michael, Kevin, and Cyndi) not last weekend but the weekend before, but I knew it would take some time and I haven't had a lot of that lately. The day after I got back from Utah, Michael and I left for Invermere with Kevin and Cyndi. They were nice enough to drive us out in the truck, and we left about 6 o'clock on a Friday. We were just past Calaway Park when Cyndi noticed a car on the opposite side of the road flipping out of control. We all watching in horror as this car toppled over and over and over on the highway. It was honestly like watching a kid throw a toy car across the room. It must've honestly gone over itself about 6 or 7 times. It didn't really seem real to me that we would have to do anything about it. It just seemed like we could watch and keep driving and that no one could have been hurt or anything, it just felt like a scene out of a movie. Well it wasn't until Kevin pulled right over and told Cyndi to call 911 right away that the reality of it sank it. He and Michael jumped out of the truck and ran to the sight of it all. A few other cars had already stopped and were running to the car, but what most people didn't notice was the man about 4 meters from the car on the ground. Kevin noticed him right away and was the first person to him, with Michael not far behind. Cyndi was explaining to the operator where we were and what the situation was as best as she could. We watched as people helped the 2 people who were still in the car, and as a crowd began to gather around the man on the ground. A doctor joined Kevin and tried to help assess the situation and they all tried to do anything to get this guy to breath a little better and to come to a bit. He was breathing and his eyes opened now and again but the situation wasn't good. The driver of the car was a girl about 20 years old and she was really shaken up, but didn't appear to be injured. I stayed in the car as Cyndi ran out to tell them not to move the guy and to help the ambulance find where the people were. It seemed to take forever for anyone to show up. Another man came on the scene. I think he was an EMT driving in his own car so he ran to help to. It was amazing just how many people were more than willing to stop and help in any way they could. Any way, we noticed shortly after that they were starting to do CPR on this man. The situation didn't look good and by the time help arrived, they had been working on him for quite some time. After much effort, they pronounced him dead and covered him over. Now the girl driving had no idea. She was being helped by the EMT's and she just had no idea that he was gone. It was horrible to witness all of this. I never got out of the truck thankfully, I stayed in there with Cyndi. Kevin stayed with the crew trying to help the man, and Michael was standing outside of the truck leaning on the door. He had seen things I hope to never see and watching his dad right there with that young man was just making him think that it could have just as easily been his dad on the ground. Anyway, after a few more moments of watching this, I heard a dull thud. I looked around for Michael, and he wasn't at the door. I scanned the scene again to see if he had walked back over to the accident and he wasn't there either. I looked out my window and there was Michael, laying on the ground with his legs half under the truck and his head about a foot from the shoulder of the road. He had completely passed out. I screamed "Michael just passed out" and jumped out of the truck. I dropped to him and grabbed his head. I kept calling to him and slapping his cheeks and moving his head and nothing. He just stared blankly at me. Now I've never seen someone pass out before except in the movies, and when that happens, they jump right back up. He wasn't coming to. I was so scared because like him before, I was thinking about how Michael could just as easily have been the young man I had just seen die. I was on the verge of tears the entire time, and then staring down at my Michael, who's not responding to me, I lost it. I started to cry and kept calling to him to wake up, and then Cyndi jumped out and slapped him and he finally snapped out of it. We got him back in the truck and he was so pale. We layed him down and got him comfortable, and after realizing that there was nothing more that could be done, Kevin got back in the car and we drove away. You could tell Michael wasn't feeling well, none of us were. We debated on just going back home, but instead we plugged on in silence for a while. It was a horrible experience and one I'll never forget. This young man was not wearing his seatbelt unlike his 2 friends who basically walked away from the accident. He was only 22 we found out later. After that Michael and I always wear our seatbelts and we do not speed. We are also now looking for a car that has as many safety features as possible. We are all too aware now of just how fragile life is. It has changed our perspective on things a great deal. I just thought I'd share that story with everyone, and I hope it has changed your perspective a little too. We may have no control over what might ultimately happen to us, but we can make sure we protect ourselves the best we can. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this young man's family, and especially to the friends in that car.

I just loved these shots. I know that they seem boring, but I can't believe the clarity. Mostly I post them for Scott, because I know he would do the same for me.

Taking pictures of Brad doing his thing out there was so tricky, but I managed to get a few shots that I LOVE. He's a great skiier and wakeboarder.
I think this one should be a poster. I loved the whole look of it. I got some others that were of him getting awesome air, but the lighting on this one was amazing.
Catie doing her thing. I do have pics of Amy and me skiing too, but I didn't know if she'd mind if I put it on, and the sight of me isn't so pretty!

Well I made it home last night from my 6 days in the Utah heat. I had a great time, other than missing Michael. I ate my heart out (Cafe Rio, Sonic, Coldstone, homemade peach pie and much more) went skiing, shopping, and got to see Tasha and Christopher. They were nice enough to drive down to see me even though I'm sure they could have been doing many other things. I sure love them both! For those of you who don't know, I met Tasha my second year at Ricks and fell instantly in love with her! We moved to Provo along with Amber to all go to BYU, and then my last year I lost her to her mission.
I actually got up on skiing while down there. Catie is way better than me though. The water in Utah lake was seriously nasty. Nice green top coat all over the water. It wasn't the best sitting in the water for too long. I got some great pics of everyone skiing, and Amy tried her best to get some of me. It's hard to get a good one on a moving boat. Brad was the champ and I got great pics of him. I'll have to post them for you to see if Amy doesn't get to it first.
Cafe Rio was delightful. I suprisingly only got it twice, but it was so good! I love that place. I could eat everything over and over and never get sick of it. It's a good thing we don't have one here or I might look a little larger.
Other than eating, I spent most of my time there shopping. I am a HUGE shoe addict! I know that if I ever get money, Michael could be in trouble. We did find some awesome sales at this time of year, and I came home with 7 pairs. I know, it seems like tons, but when I mean sales, I mean like $3, $4, and $6 pairs. So I didn't go money crazy. It was wonderful. My last day we hit another huge sale but I had already spent my money so I forced myself to leave without looking. It was hard, but I did it. If I lived there I might be broke. So many sales all of the time. It totally doesn't account for the exchange. You can't compare to the prices down there, so I really saved us money hey? That's how I like to think about it. Well here's some pics of the trip, I'll get more on later. Michael and I are heading up to the condo for the rest of the weekend, and then it's back to work on Monday. Michael has 1 last week of work before school starts, and then the playing slows down. I can't believe this month has gone this fast. I hate how quickly the summer goes away, but at the same time I love the fall. I love getting to wear warmer clothes and how the leaves change. I love it up until the first snow and then I want summer back. Oh well, what are ya going to do???
Catie and Me. Our photographer was Annie so our heads got a little cut off.
Sarah the Monkey. I tried really hard the whole trip to come up with a nickname for her. I love to have nicknames for the kiddies. I finally decided on Monkey. She gets around like one. She "crawls" on her feet and hands and she can motor. It's hilarious. I also spent my whole trip trying to get her to call me Ninna. When Catie was a baby that's what she called me. The kids up here now call me Leela. I think I was successful with Sarah though. I had her saying "nin nin" but I'm not sure if she knew what she was doing. I like to think she did.
Tasha and Christopher! Thank you for seeing me!
Me and all the kiddies right before we left for the airport. I had a great time with them.

Well I'm off to Utah tomorrow with Amy and the kids. I thought I would be so excited to go, but I have totally mixed emotions. I HATE leaving without Michael. I'm so bummed we can't go together, and I know that once I'm there I'll have a great time, but for right now, I feel sad. I've just been packing up, and I must admit, it brings about the strangest deja vu. Packing in August to drive to Utah. Hmmm...it feels like I'm going to school. Weird. I am very much looking forward to some wonderful Cafe Rio. I think I'll make Amy stop there tomorrow right when we get there. I need a pork salad! I also get to see Tasha and Christopher while I'm there and I couldn't be more excited about that! I want to get to the temple too. Amy lives literally 5 minutes from Mount Timpanogas so I'm excited to go to one I've never been in. I'm also excited to get some Cold Stone. How come I plan every trip according to what I'm going to eat there? I need to get some new hobbies. I'm sure we'll go boating, and that Amy and Brad will make me get up on the ski. I'll just to have to tough it out this time. Although Utah lake isn't my favorite, Amy assures me that it's cleaner this year? The last time I was in it, I got so sick the next day. That's not a good memory for me, and I'm pretty sure it had something to do with that water. Nothing can compare to the beautiful and clean lakes we find up here. Anyway, I'd better get to sleep seeing as though Michael's already in bed. I'm taking my trusty camera so you can be sure of more pics! I'm sure I'll post down there too!

One of my favorite things in the whole world is Michael's laugh. When he laughs really hard, it's nearly impossible not to join right in. I was so happy to capture that look on his face when something has really struck him. Ohhh, my Michael!

The oldest girls have "graduated" and are now able to come to the civilized lunches we get to go to every once in a while. They joined Mom and all of the sisters that are here (minus Kerri) for lunch at Cheesecake Cafe on Monday. In case you are wondering, YES, I did eat out a great deal this weekend.

I really liked this shot I got of Sarah. I just love it when it comes out all clear and you can really see the detail in their little faces. After shooting some shots with our camera, and then with Scott's, I realized how much I want Scott's. Oh well, we'll have to really save our pennies for that one. Until then, I'm totally satisfied!

I was just fooling around with the camera while we were picnicing at Confederation Park Monday night with the Palmer clan (minus H&G). Cyndi made us all dinner and then good times were had throwing a baseball and football for the rest of the night. I just realized how little I post any of the Palmer pics. I guess that's because it's so much easier to get the little kiddies to pose for you, so I decided to get some "action" shots of the night.
Michael catching for Brett
Jeffrey tossing the football around.
Kandice admiring her nice throw.
